Is STEM encouragement working?

There is an interesting article on the ISTE site about the effects of encouraging STEM take up, It looks as if all the efforts mainly retain those who all ready see the subjects as preferred choices, and do not significantly encourage new take up. ​Perhaps have a look at Stuart Ball on Twitter​​ for a very current view of IT in education. and it was there that I found the ISTE link

The Tech Partnership to cease operations in September 2018
As a result of changes in government policy for skills, The Tech Partnership says it is no longer possible for them to fulfil its core purpose of bringing together industry, education and government with a common agenda for action on digital skills. Over the coming year, they say they will continue to deliver their work and will be seeking natural homes for their ongoing activities.The Tech Partnership, and the forerunner e-skills UK, were custodians of National Occupational Standards (NOS). These are used to underpin we need to keep an eye on any significant changes especially with the development of digital T level curriculum.​.

A few changes over the summer .....

Many of you will have noticed the price adjustments from Courseware Marketplace. You might not have noticed the new on-line labs. Most likely worth a look if you are delivering the MCP track. Just picked up on this ..... Microsoft Imagine Academy Data Science Curriculum

Microsoft Imagine Academy (MSIA) is happy to announce the availability of our new Data Science curriculum, just in time for back-to-school!  This Data Science curriculum, which includes course videos, instructor and student OneNotes, labs and assessments, includes courses like Database Fundamentals, Introduction to Data Science, Working with Non-Relational Data, Using Data in Software Applications, Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Excel, and Data Science and Machine Learning Essentials.

Microsoft is deeply invested in improving early data science awareness and skills.  MSIA’s new Data Science curriculum, along with other learning paths such as Computer Science, IT Infrastructure and Productivity, provide a great runway for students who wish to go on to pursue more advanced skills and professional certifications.
